Old buildings, if located in important historical scenery arena, if settled with beautiful and matching humanistic establishment, or if built by antique skilled architecture design or strengthened ancient material, then surely needs to be protected by governments or preserved by its beauty stakeholders.

Compared to the place these kinds of old buildings hosted in, modern purposes don’t certainly roll out precise essential benefits to replace them.

Modern time has modern needs for modern people, however, modern utilization for people may not provide the warmth and embrace to the crossed generation of people from the past to nowadays. On the other hand, old buildings often have the substitute ability to rely on for this part.

However, the purpose of the space the old buildings located in usually has different stimulus for change in the middle or long run. And old buildings might be left away or destructed on behalf of those changes. It accrues the complexity to the calculation on the preservation of old buildings.

On the earth, the maintenance of precious old buildings is a must to governments or private enterprises, and the pivotal step for this goal by my concern, is to stabilize the unexpected uncertainties from the exterior changes to old buildings.

The concrete action is to map out a concept framework to evaluate the old building maintenance project.

The framework could be listed out as below：

First, we shall confirm that there will be four purposes that we permit the changes from other arena affect old buildings.

One, the safety cause, second the cultural reason, and the third, the economic initiative, and the fourth the public interest need.

Besides, decision making process is the other critical factor to influence the consistency of old buildings, so a more equitable and balanced arbitration group of professionals and citizen representatives through a rigorous deliberative and decision making process should be taken into consideration while policy making needs to be a necessity.

And by the better use of this concept framework, I will say , we may not take all factors to evaluate the consistency of the maintenance of old buildings all by the above suggested framework. However, the importances derived from the beauty and values of old buildings, to the biggest extent, won’t be omitted.

And, finally, old buildings under the evaluative concept framework might not avoid the destiny to disappear all the time, but we can be sure that intricate evaluation before change will always be better in any case.

And from the metaphorical implication from the consideration on old buildings. We can also define that, in the future, private or single dimensioned needs shall not be the only cause to establish a building any more, there should be the culture, safety, economic and public needs to be concerned also herein.
